KEEPA – BEE NETWORKING

Beekeeper network · South Africa

One map.
Every keeper.

Keepa is the network for South African beekeeping. Register your operation, see who keeps bees near you, get honey to buyers and refineries, and track your hives in a place nobody else can see. We also assist with hive registrations and renewals, so the paperwork stops being your problem.

01

What Keepa does

One network for South African beekeeping. Six things, on one shared map of the country.

●

Registration and leases

Your details go into the beekeeper database, so we can help with official registration and with lease extensions when they come due.

●

Find beekeepers

A national block map showing where keepers operate, so farmers who need pollination can find you and you can find open ground.

●

Contracts

Pollination bookings from growers, and honey requests from buyers and refineries. Work comes to you instead of the other way round.

●

Mentorship

Learn from an experienced keeper near you, or teach a newer one. Bees are learned standing next to someone who knows them.

●

Theft watch

Hive theft is the single biggest loss for South African keepers. One report warns every keeper nearby, fast.

●

Harvest expectations

What an area typically yields, so you can plan a season and price a batch against something better than a guess.

02

Current bee coverage

You claim the block you operate in. That block is what other members see. Your exact hive positions are never published, to anyone, for any reason.

Open Keepers operating Your claim

Your block is public. Your exact hive positions never are.

03 · How Keepa works

Register once. The network does the finding.

1

Claim your block

Register your operation and claim the forage block you work in. We help with official registration and lease renewals, and we're automating both.

2

Let work find you

Pollination bookings, honey buyers and refineries reach you through your block, never your address.

3

Get better at bees

Stand at an open hive with a keeper who knows them, and read guides written for South African conditions.

04

Theft watch

Hive theft is the number one loss for South African keepers. Reports are block level, vague on purpose, because a public list of exactly where hives were taken is a map for the next thief.

Report a theft or tampering
C-06162 hives takenReported this week · keepers in adjacent blocks alerted · sample report
C-0838TamperingLids lifted, frames disturbed · no loss · watch raised · sample report

05

Hive registrations and renewals

Registering hives is a legal requirement and most keepers put it off, because the process is slow and easy to get wrong. We assist with it.

New registrations

Tell us on the registration form that you want help and we take it from there. You give us the details once and we handle the submission.

Renewals and lease extensions

Registrations lapse and leases run out, usually at the worst time. We track the dates and come to you before they expire.

Kept in one place

Your registration details sit alongside your block and your operation, so you are not hunting for paperwork every time somebody asks for it.

06

Coming to your phone

Keepa works in any phone browser today, and nothing here needs an app. A native app for iPhone and Android is on the way, for the parts that are better with a camera, a map and offline access in the veld.

●

iOS

In development. We will let registered keepers know when it lands.

●

Android

In development. Most South African keepers are on Android, so this is the one we care most about getting right.

No date yet, and we would rather say that than invent one. Register now and you will be on the list when it ships.
